Incredibles 2: Rise of the Underminer is an amazing game. It’s one of those great games that remind you why you play videogames in the first place: to have fun! The main game has 2 playable characters, Mr. Incredible and Frozone. Both characters share the same screen, and it’s almost never is an annoyance that you don’t have your own screen. If you play alone, you switch between the 2 characters, but at any time during play, a second player can join you in the fight.
Me and my brother started the game 2 player and we had a great time. Both characters share some moves like jump, punch or sliding dodge (with the R analog stick, so you can slide in any direction). There are also moves that are different depending on the character you’re playing. Mr. Incredible can pick up and throw things; and can do a shockwave punch on the ground. Frozone can freeze robots and their missiles; and can hover glide with his metal ski-board from the movie. At key points in the game, like in the previous game, there will be certain obstacles only 1 character can overcome, for example Frozone freezes giant drills in the way, and Mr. Incredible lifts heavy doors. This game also boasts a simple yet strategic leveling system. When a character has gained enough experience to get a level, they will have to choose what area to level up in. Some examples include Health, Throwing (Mr. I only), and Freeze Ray (Frozone only). This system is so easy to use, but you will have to wise about which ones to pick at the right time, to make it easier for you during the thick of battle.
Playing this game recreates the feel of being the characters better than any movie-based or superhero game I have ever played. People playing 2 player should eventually from a solid fighting style together.
A few people will complain that this game is too short, but I refuse to believe anyone could have trouble with mastering the controls or not have fun playing this game. There are so many modes in the game.There are about 10 huge levels in the main game and 9 optional missions. There are also specials, including videos, like a trailer for both Incredibles games, and the preview of Pixar’s next movie, ‘Cars’.
The great gameplay and the loads of extras really make this game shine!! Buy this game when you can. You won’t regret it.

|Great two player mode and good fun in single mode,
My son (10) and I really like this game. We think it has a great two player mode, where you can be either Mr Freeze or Mr Incredible. We played it pretty quickly I suppose, in a few days, as two player. But it was great fun while it lasted. My son found the first Incredibles game just too hard when it came out and gave up after a while (when a bit older he completed it). We liked the ‘nasty molie’ Underminer and all the baddies are robots giving a non violent feel. You have different powers depending on who you are and you can upgrade your powers when you get enough points (trashed a lot of robots). All our games saved OK automatically (and we didn’t seem to need passwords). We got the game for a tenner, and felt it money well spent. I certainly preferred the game to Rachet & Clank Gladiator etc.. in two player mode. The only downside is that sometimes you get a bit stuck when your helper goes in an opposite diection (you share the same screen). But I found the superpower moves easy to master, and teamwork really helps defeat mad molie. In single player mode it is actually a bit more difficult as you have to swap charactors often to use their special powers – and so die frequently before you use them – although you both have to die to stop the game. The dead hero recovers after 10 seconds if you stay alive. So a great two player game (quite rare actually). Also try Battle Engine Aquilla, Lego Star Wars I & II and Metal Arms (Glitch in the system) for good two player mode.

|40 Year Old With 7 Year Old Son,
From a dad who searches high & low for games that his kids can enjoy but not struggle with, this game rocks! You can jump into a single player game as a second player anytime. It is challenging enough to be fun but not too tough that the kids have to replay each sub-level over and over to beat. My son loves it and we have a great time playing together at the same time (one as Mr Inc and the other as Mr Freeze). This game, Sly Cooper 1 and Madagascar are the best games we’ve found so far after trying about 20 PS2 games. We like games that are fun but that the kids do not need help every 5 minutes on.
