Gameplay In Nintendogs Dalmatian & Friends owners purchase one of the six breeds available at the beginning of Nintendogs, then start spending time with their pups. They throw flying discs and balls to improve the pup’s agility, bathe it when it gets dirty and repeat voice commands to train the dog to do tricks. If owners train it well enough, they will excel in obedience and agility trials and disc competitions, which will earn money that they can use to buy other supplies and puppy breeds. When owners earn enough cash, they can buy even more puppies to live with their original pup.
Key Game Features

Did you find the Fireman’s Hat?,
The only way you can unlock the Dalmation is to find the Fireman’s hat during a walk. If you have been unlucky and want a dalmation, you can buy the Dalmation edition.
Basically there are 20 dogs in all… 18 of which are featured in the first 3 editions (see below). Dalmations and Jack Russel Terriers are the only dogs that are not featured in any of the first 3 games. This newest edition includes Dalmations and 5 other popular dogs from the other 3 games. I assume they will release Jack Russel edition next. lol
Games and dogs included:
Dachund & Friends: 1) Dachshund 2) Beagle 3) Shih Tzu 4) Pug 5) Golden Retriever 6) Siberian Husky
Chihuahua & Friends: 1) Chihuahua 2) Boxer 3) Spaniel 4) Yorkshire Terrier 5) Shetland Sheepdog 6) German Shepherd
Labrador Retriever & Friends: 1) Lab 2) Corgi 3) Min Pin 4) Poodle 5) Shiba Inu 6) Miniature Schnauzer
Dalmation & Friends: 1) Dalmation 2) Boxer 3) German Shepherd 4) Golden Retriever 5) Yorkshire Terrier 6)Beagle
NOTE!!!!! EVERY EDITION HAS THE POTENTIAL TO UNLOCK ALL 20 DOGS. So if you want to do it on your own you can!! That’s what I hope to do.
REGARDING THE JACK RUSSEL: you can unlock it by finding a book on Jack Russel Terriers during a walk.

|AVOID THIS GAME…,
Avoid this game if you don’t want your child laughing and giggling and
plain ignoring all the other gifts she got for Christmas. Avoid this game
if you don’t want your child learning about dogs and their care and
feeding. Avoid this game if you don’t want your child excitedly
interrupting you to show you the latest trick she taught her dog or what a
good groomer she is, etc. Avoid this game if it is important to you that
your child is constantly engaged in some loud, life-or-death violent
struggle with some alien, or demon, or other enemy, as opposed to having
an imaginative and constructive virtual relationship with man’s best
friend.
Will the game get boring, as some comments have intimated? I think it
depends on the person, and whether you like dogs. Some people get
bored with walking and caring for real pets, too. And some people look
forward to their walks with their dog, and don’t mind in the least the
cleaning up that goes with it. I can also see how this game could be
appealing to any age group, again, assuming you like dogs.
Also, from what I’ve heard, the Nintendogs game seems to appeal more than
the SIMS PETS, especially from a graphics and interactive standpoint, but
that the SIMS PETS is fun and nice if you have other SIMS stuff.
The yelp your child makes when s/he first discovers that they can actually
blow against the touch-screen to blow bubbles to the puppy is priceless.
My one concern so far is what happens to the dogs if one doesn’t play the
game for a few days? Do they become famished? Since not playing the game
hasn’t become an issue, it may be awhile before I find out the answer to
that.
Time will tell of course about how long this game will generate enthusiam,
but I already feel that we’ve already gotten more than our money’s worth
out of the game, in just this short while, especially compared to other
games the kids exhaust after only ten or so hours.

|Great fun, but gets boring . . . .,
When I got this game, I was thrilled and amazed at how complex it was: you can purchase your dog from a kennel, name it with your own voice, and talk to it, pet it, interact with it. But after awhile the game gets very repetitive. Feed. Water. Go for walk. Go to the park. Enter a competition. Feed. Water. Walk . . . you get the idea. As you earn “trainer points” (by interacting with your dog, winning competitions, etc.) you can unlock items and new breeds, which is pretty fun.
Overall, as a person who grooms, shows and helps breed dogs for a living, the realism in the game is fantastic, but it does get old!
