There was one more but I dont remember.
The horses gaits were very realistic, but when you “galloped” it was actually a fast canter. There arent any lead changes, which drives me insane. The graphics tend to be like computer graphics, they can be a little sketchy, but its not horrible. The horse shys away from things way to much, whether it is a jump or just an area you arent aloud to go into. You cant go into the water alot on free rides and when you manage to get into it there is either no visual splashing or no sound. Limited color options.
I do like how this game is setup though. You can choose you tack which you earn by winning competitions. You also can choose polo wraps and mane style. The grooming section of this game is wonderful!! Its very realistic and I love the fact that they made it possible to comb the mane and tail! The scenery is very good. You can go on free rides at dusk and they have rivers, beaches, woods and fields you can ride through. There are also many different view options. You can choose the one right behind the horse, like you were riding the horse, the horses perspective and a bird view. Dressage a Showjumping only offer two views though, right behind the horse and a birds eye view that stays put and follows the horse.
Overall this is the BEST horse game I’ve ever played! Im hoping they make another one to fix the minor problems! Worth the money!
Riding Star is one of the better horse games I have played. The riding is realistic for the most part and the graphics are good for a ps2. The grooming does get old and repetitive but its not to bad. I really like how you get to train and unlike other horse games, the horse gains skill as it progresses. This game is alot of fun and worth the money.
This game is really good, you have a free ride and 3 different competitions. It would be better if you caould have more than three horses.
The Show Jumping is good, and the controls are pretty easy.
Same with the Cross Country.
The dressage is the hardest part of the game, but, it is realistic, because real dressage is judged on precise movments and timing.
Overal, this is a great game for people who love the sport of horseback riding!
I bought this for my friend as a Christmas gift. We got into it right away. The grooming wasn’t as hard as I had read, and the events are extremely realistic.
The free ride seem to always be riding in the sunset, or maybe it’s my TV’s color problem, but you can go anywhere you want. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t ride in the lake. Why are all horse games like that? It’s not as if the horse will fall over and die if he puts a foot in the water.
For some reason you can’t canter the cross country jumps, which doesn’t make sense. You can canter the show jumping though.
The dressage is a bit difficult because you can’t make those intense turns that it asks you to.
But overall a great game and I recommend to anyone looking for the best.
Riding Star is a more realistic game for the playstation 2. it has a sensitivity to it that I like as well as the graphics are improved and for the cherry on top you actually get to take care of a horse not just tack up and ride and win a ribbon or two and game over. you actually train, feed, groom, and comb your horse and give it affection. overall a great game for young girls
